(March 17th 2020) As of Wednesday, March 18th until further notice Tallaght University Hospital is deferring all elective inpatient, day case and outpatient activity unless it is deemed essential/time critical. 听If you are a patient, please do not attend the Hospital unless you have been contacted directly to do so.听听
The Hospital regrets the impact that this will have on our patients but these new arrangements are necessary in order to deal with the impact of COVID-19.听Cancelled appointments will be rescheduled as quickly as possible when it is deemed safe to do so. 鈥淥ur staff across every part of the Hospital are working around the clock to deal with the Covid19/Coronavirus. They will continue to care for those infected, and to protect and care for other patients in the Hospital.听We are employing all infection control measures and every effort is being made to manage and control the spread of the virus. We appreciate听that this is a difficult time for patients and their families and we are working to provide services in a different way where possible. This includes virtual clinics (telephone call) for some OPD appointments, these patients will be contacted by medical staff鈥� commented Lucy Nugent, Chief Executive of Tallaght University Hospital.
Visiting restrictions continue at the Hospital
In the interest of the safety we are reducing footfall into the Hospital. 听The only visitors allowed are those who are visiting:
- Loved ones who are receiving end of life care
- Parents of children who are currently inpatients
听Under no circumstances are children allowed visit the Hospital.听听These visitor restrictions are being put in place for public and patient health reasons to minimise the possible spread of infections.
Please note the Patient Care Package service started last week has proved very popular and has been extended to a seven day a week service.听
